County Administration
A Message from the County Administrative Officer
Welcome to Mono County, where our small communities each have their own priorities and character, but also share many of the same opportunities and challenges. Because our communities are geographically spread out and resources are often shared across departments and partners, we have to stay practical and flexible in how we approach our work.
A big part of my role is helping departments work together, supporting staff, and helping move projects and priorities forward across the organization. A lot of our work depends on departments and partner agencies working closely together, and in small communities, relationships matter.
County staff work hard every day to serve our communities, often behind the scenes. Local government can be complicated, but at the end of the day our job is to provide good public services and help keep the County moving forward.
Thanks for visiting our page and taking an interest in County government. Please feel free to reach out if you have questions, feedback, or ideas.

About the County Administrative Office
The County Administrative Office provides leadership and coordination for County operations and works closely with the Board of Supervisors and County departments to carry out Board direction.
The CAO is responsible for developing and managing the County budget, coordinating work across departments, and supporting both day-to-day operations and long-range planning. The office also reviews and monitors County programs, services, and budgets; supports major County initiatives, strategic priorities, and special projects; and represents the County in regional, state, and federal matters.
The CAO works closely with department heads across the organization to help keep projects moving, support County operations, and coordinate implementation of Board priorities.
The CAO’s Office also supports emergency preparedness, response, and recovery efforts, and works closely with Human Resources/Risk Management and other County departments to support County employees and organizational needs. The Director of Human Resources/Risk Management reports to the CAO.
At its core, the CAO’s Office is focused on supporting departments, coordinating Countywide efforts, and helping the Board’s priorities translate into real results for Mono County communities.
